THIRTY DAY PRAYER CHALLENGE - DAY 9

PRAY THE NAMES OF GOD

DAY 9

JEHOVAH- JIREH

The great John Newton, who wrote the timeless classic "AMAZING GRACE" also wrote these beautiful words about the LORD Who provides! Here is part of the poem:

Though troubles assail and dangers affright,
Though friends should all fail and foes all unite;
Yet one thing secures us, whatever betide,
The scripture assures us, the Lord will provide

The birds without barn or storehouse are fed,
From them let us learn to trust for our bread:
His saints, what is fitting, shall ne'er be denied,
So long as it's written, the Lord will provide

We may, like the ships, by tempest be tossed
On perilous deeps, but cannot be lost.
Though Satan enrages the wind and the tide,
The promise engages, the Lord will provide.

His call we obey, like Abram of old,
Not knowing our way, but faith makes us bold;
For though we are strangers we have a good Guide,
And trust in all dangers, the Lord will provide

The phrase "The Lord Provides", which is also a Name of our Great God and Father, comes from the prophetic event on Mount Moriah. It was here that Abraham was told by God to go up and sacrifice his only legitimate son at the time, Isaac. Genesis 22 has the full account. Abraham obeyed. When God provided a ram for the sacrifice in the thicket, Isaac was spared.  In verse 14, Abraham called that place "The Lord will provide..." or Jehovah Jireh!

ACTION POINT:
Read the poem by John Newton again above and let us pray this Name of God:

Father in the Name of Jesus, You are my Provider, my All in All.
You are the Source of every good thing.
You are the Father of Lights Who giveth Life.
I am nothing without You.
I am worthless without You.

The bed I sleep in is Yours.
The house I live in is Yours.
The food I eat comes from You.
The job I work it was given by You.
The car I drive is a gift from You.

The children You blessed our family with are Yours.
Their children are Yours.
Their future is Yours.
Everything is Yours.

You, oh God, provided all.
I thank You Lord for Your mercy.
I thank You for Your kindness.
I thank You for Your Goodness.
I thank You for You, Jehovah-Jireh, oh God Who provides.

Most of all, I thank You for providing the Greatest Gift of all – the Lord Jesus, Who gave His Life that I may belong to You and can praise You like this. It is in His Name I pray, amen.
