THINK ON THESE THINGS - WEDNESDAY

FAITH IS....
(an Hebrews 11- an overview)

Faith means many things, to many people.
We can have full faith and confidence in United States currency!
We can have faith in the United States military to protect and serve!
We can have faith in our fellow man to do the right thing!
We can have faith our governments are really looking out for the people!
We can have faith our children will grow up have a better life than we do!

All of these things are good to believe in or about, but he who puts his trust and complete faith in mortal man and his institutions is headed for disappointment!

Can we really say all these things with the confidence - that "it will be so"?  The word confidence means something. Confidence is derived from two Latin words (like most English words). Con means "with" and fidence is from the Latin "fide" or Faith. Therefore "confidence" means we are operating with Faith!

When we think of Faith, we, who are called by His Name, think of the Lord Jesus Christ! Hebrews 11: 1-2 (AMP) says " NOW FAITH is the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of the things [we] hope for, being the proof of things [we] do not see and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses]. For by [faith--trust and holy fervor born of faith] the men of old had divine testimony borne to them and obtained a good report".

As we start the next several Blog teachings on Faith, I wish to thank Bernadette Smyth, the most powerful pro-Life leader in Great Britain who heads up Precious Life, of Northern Ireland, for inspiring this message. She posted these verses on Facebook this morning, which the Lord used to speak to me, about sharing what Faith really is!

The two verses above are pretty self-explanatory. So just a couple observations here:

Faith is ....not Hope.
Faith is a belief system which leads to Hope!
Faith is taking God at His Word. You either believe He is God or not.
Faith is trusting the God of the Word (the Bible).
Faith is telling others about the Greatness of our God.
Faith is transfering your membership from a future in hell, to the Kingdom of Heaven.
Faith is transforming us from being bogged down by the cares of this world, into relying on the Power and Majesty of His Entire Being.
Faith is finally, knowing He is always there to catch us, when we stumble or fall!
