YOUR WEDNESDAY MORNING DEVOTION!

”COME ON, MAN!”

Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?  Matthew 6:27 (NLT)

To be sure, there is a lot to be concerned about! Even the most level-headed born-again, saved and sanctified person feels the same weight of the times as those walking in the world, right next to them.  Matthew 5:45 says God sends rain on both the just and the unjust. When there are earthquakes and tsunamis, solid Christian missionaries get called home, just as quickly as the unsaved.

So how should a Christian react? When we see our kids struggling with a bleak future; food and fuel prices rocketing and the value of our once “sure thing” portfolio (if we have one) plummeting…when see these things – then what?

What did Jesus say in Matthew 6:27? The word He used for worries is “merimnaĆ³”. This actually means to be pulled apart, in pieces, in different directions with a certain powerful intent full of SINFUL ANXIETY! This one word means all of this!

This is precisely the state of men and women in our land today! We get pulled in so many directions, we eat poorly, we rest rarely and we stop to praise even more rarely! We have lived a certain lifestyle the past 30 plus years which sometimes defies gravity!  We run kids to football, soccer, drama or practice each evening. If we have three children, we go in three different directions, because each kid is involved in something else.

We then take them to church on Sunday to “learn about God” and to be taught, most likely by a person…who has their own particular lifestyle issue!  This kind of worship never works. No wonder we only have a 9% Biblical worldview in America held by adults.

We all know the drill. So what’s the out? The Bible is full of great Wisdom.  Psalm 46:10 “Be still (RAPHA, Hebrew) and know (Yada, Hebrew) that I am God”

Rapha means “let it go” or come on, man! Yada indicates an intimate relationship with God! This verse is the key!
